Sheila Mahan

Sheila Mahan offers more than 25 years of experience as a consultant and campus professional. Her areas of expertise include undergraduate and graduate admissions, publications and media relations, and advising.
Previously, Ms. Mahan served as assistant vice president for academic affairs at the University at Albany, the State University of New York, supervising both recruitment and retention activities as well as enrollment planning. Her efforts to make recruitment efforts more data-driven helped increase class size by 10 percent, raise average SAT and GPA scores, and increase geographic and ethnic diversity at the university. Her work with Office of Graduate Admissions led to improvements in customer service and technology, while also producing greater coordination between the office and individual graduate departments. Ms. Mahan led a major reorganization of the Advisement Services Center, coordinating the advising efforts campuswide. This resulted in substantial improvements in student satisfaction and student retention. Additional areas of accomplishment have included significant improvements in course planning and management and in the application of information technology to the improvement of student services.
Ms. Mahan also served as senior assistant to the president and associate director of university relations at the University at Albany. She was also an assistant professor of English at Hudson Valley Community College (NY).
